I was having a latte on James Street in Central London a few months back. My friend and myself started writing some rhymes about a topic we selected together. As we were writing and improvising, "Moroccan Cinderella" suddenly came out. I loved the way it sounded! And I thought that those 2 words put together, summed up quite well the woman I have become. "Moroccan Cinderella" is a young woman who is very strong and yet very sensitive. She is very happy in her life but is also very emotional. "Moroccan Cinderella" is extremely ambitious however, sometimes, she happens to lack self-confidence. "Moroccan Cinderella" went through a lot of events. She learnt her lessons and she understands that she can only rely on herself. She knows what she wants, and she knows that getting it only depends on HER. She also knows that someone up there is watching over her. This is what gives her the courage and motivation to keep moving forward. I do think that all the women in the world can identify with "Moroccan Cinderella". Society expects so much from us, but never appreciates us for who we truly are. We still struggle with recognition of how important we are. I'm grateful to be living in a system where I am free and where I can be independent as a woman. However, I do bear in mind as well that, millions of women around the world do not have the same situation that I have. That is why I want to extend the concept of "Moroccan Cinderella" to another level. "Moroccan Cinderella", represents a super woman. She has the appearance of a princess and the soul of a warrior. "Moroccan Cinderella" is a feminist, a humanitarian, a peacemaker, a leader, a preacher, a dreamer, an activist, ... "Moroccan Cinderella" is Arab, African, European, Asian and American. "Moroccan Cinderella" represents all the strong women around the world that refuse to be victims and will not give up on their dreams until they win.
