Remain in Control.

Remaining in control does not necessarily means that all ideas and solution must come from you. You just need to work smarter and use the resources you have around you. Have you ever faced a situation that you did not know the answer for? Have one of your staff ever come to you for you to provide a solution to their problem and you absolutely did not have a clue of what to answer back?

If it ever happens, avoid the kind of response that says: " You are a smart person I'm sure you are more than capable of figuring something out" This is you running away from your responsibility.

Why not opt for: "If you were that client and the same thing happened to you, what would you like the company to do for you?"

As soon as he/she replies you are in control, because your employee will feel trusted and that he/she is capable of handling it. Then listen and guide your member of staff so that you can correct (if needed) until you find the right solution together. Your employee will fill valorized, he/she will feel that their opinion is important and that will build confidence. For you, it did not require you to think too much, you did not brainstorm, and you guided through instead of doing the job. Make sure that the employee does everything properly and according to what is agreed.

Conclusion: You have delegated and provided a solution while remaining in control.
